ACT Brumbies half Nic White has kicked a penalty goal to guide his side to a brutally close 28-23 round four win at Canberra Stadium on Saturday night.
It was an emphatic victory with both sides showing flare and muscle, but in the end, it was the home side that showed the best composure and dominance at the ruck.
The Waratahs will be disappointed with some missed opportunities throughout the match, but players like Michael Hooper, Nich Phibbs and Israel Folau played at their expected best.
For the Brumbies inspirational efforts were made by all the forwards to dominate the ruck, but in particular big men Stephen Moore, Ben Mowen, Ben Alexander and Scott Fardy.
The backline alos fired admirably, with round one misfortunes Nic White and Jesse Mogg having outstanding showings.
In his 50th game Henry Speight made key linebreaks on the wing as expected, while on the other side tevita Kuridrani was also on fire.
There is no doubt coaches Stephen Larkham and Laurie Fisher will be particularly impressed with this performance- the Brumbies' third win on the trot now.
They showed they are back to defend their grand final spot and go for one better.
